Wheat Ridge Mountain Bike Team
Join the fastest-growing co-ed high school sport in Colorado! The Wheat Ridge Mountain Bike Team welcomes any 8th through 12th grader, from complete beginners to experienced racers. All you need is a working mountain bike, a helmet, and a willingness to have fun.
We’re part of a combined LHS/WRHS program with student-athletes from as many as six area high schools. We practice and ride together as one team, riding public trails throughout the Front Range twice a week to build skills, confidence, and community.
Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00–7:00 PM, July 7 thru October 15 on Jefferson County public trails.
Racing: Optional competitive racing begins in late August through the Colorado League, a 501(c)(3) youth development nonprofit. Mountain biking is a recognized club at WRHS, and racers can earn an athletic letter. Below is our Yampa division race schedule for the 2026 season:
  • Race 1 – Frisco Bay Invitational — Frisco, CO — Saturday, August 29, 2026
  • Race 2 – Showdown in the Boat — Steamboat Springs, CO — Sunday, September 13, 2026
  • Race 3 – Haymaker Classic — Eagle, CO — Saturday, September 26, 2026
  • Race 4 – Royal Gorge Rumble — Cañon City, CO — Sunday, October 11, 2026
  • State Championship — Glenwood Springs, CO — October 24–25, 2026
Whether you’re chasing podiums or just want to explore new trails with friends, there’s a place for you on the team.

Education is, at heart, a community effort.

Education is, at heart, a community effort. In our community, we share our learned experiences and resources as well as offer up opinions on current events. Each voice adds to the body of pedagogy and learning. This happens within classrooms, at conferences, in teacher break rooms, and it happens on blogs.
